The move from the Lime Pictures-produced show is the first of its kind for a UK primetime soap.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, producer Bryan Kirkwood said: "[Hollyoaks is] already filming in HD and the show will be broadcast in the format from Monday, June 2."
Meanwhile, BBC One's EastEnders is currently busy testing its HD equipment; ITV1 soap Coronation Street is continuing to "explore the options"; Emmerdale will begin filming in HD in July; while the BBC's daytime medical drama Doctors has been filming in the high quality format since December.
