The broadcaster wants the programme, a pilot of which aired earlier this year, for its Saturday morning T4 block.
Producer Lime Pictures has been told that The Hollyoaks Music Show is a priority for T4 but that a sponsor must be found before it can go to series.
Presented by T4's Rick Edwards and actor Matt Littler (Max Cunningham), the pilot saw pop acts perform in the soap's pub, The Dog in the Pond, and its nightclub The Loft.
