Zak seems more excited than anyone else about the prospect of graduating, but will his family be there to celebrate with him? The cheeky Scouser is keen to show off his cap and gown but when Hayley brings bad news, it threatens to ruin his big day - Caleb's gone AWOL. Zak pretends to play tough, but he's clearly hurt that his mum, dad and brother won't be there.

Nevertheless, Michaela comes to the rescue - if Zak's family can't be there, then at least her family can. When Myra and Mercedes hear about a free bar, they can't move quick enough to the ceremony.

Zak has a surprise up his sleeve, though, and everyone's gob-smacked when he steps up to collect his first-class honours degree. What's more, Caleb turns up just in time to see his brother graduate.

Later, it's a sad moment when Zak's older brother has to depart for Afghanistan. Zak, meanwhile, has the world at his feet and Michaela can't bear the idea of him moving on. However, Zak has his best surprise until last - a Master's degree will mean at least another year for him on campus…

While everyone else is celebrating graduation, Zoe feels left out. Proud parents Graham and Christine are thrilled at the prospect of seeing their little girl graduate, but they just make her feel worse by fussing.

Zoe manages to patch things up with Sarah, though, and while she tries to convince Zoe to come clean to her parents, Archie has other ideas. Frightened of owning up and letting her parents down, Zoe goes along with Archie's ridiculous scheme to fake the graduation ceremony.

Inevitably it all ends in disaster and Adrian eventually blows Zoe's cover. Afterwards, Zoe doesn't feel like attending to the ball, but her friends are there to show her how much they care. What's more, they have a plan to bring Adrian down a peg or two…

Meanwhile, Gilly's back to celebrate graduation with his brother Rhys but with Josh feeling sorry for himself and Hannah still pining over Justin, they may be celebrating alone.

Gilly attempts to convince Hannah that she should be there for her brother, but she's still furious with Rhys for driving Justin away and refuses.

At the ball, everyone couples up, while Rhys cuts a lonely figure. Archie attempts to recruit him as a wingman, but Rhys has his eye on someone in particular. However, just as he's about to make his move on Hayley, Hannah turns up to make amends. Meanwhile, Archie ends up bedding a McQueen, but it's by no means one of his finest hours…

Elsewhere, Kris seems out of sorts on graduation day and the idea of being paraded in front of people brings out all his insecurities. Initially, he has no interest in attending the ceremony but when his mum Erin turns up after having faced her fears of air-travel, he's so touched by the gesture that he reluctantly agrees to play along.

Dressed in a smart suit, he looks like a different person, but in the end he comes to a closer understanding with his mother - it's clear that she accepts him for who he is… Get the Inside Soap magazine on your iPhone or iPad
