2622: Daniel interviews a couple who want to adopt

Leila's thrilled that she made £200 at the art sale, but Elliot's in no mood for celebrating - he's still fuming that she contacted his dad behind his back. After Elliot storms out, Leila goes to meet Gareth again. She's forced to come clean and tell him that Elliot was unaware that they'd been in contact. Gareth doesn't want to cause any more upset, but Leila persuades him that he should give it one more go with his son.

Leila tries but fails to get in touch with her boyfriend - until she eventually asks Gilly to phone Elliot and get him out for a drink. Elliot's suspicious but agrees to go and meet him at The Dog.

When Elliot arrives to meet Gilly, he's instead greeted by Leila and Gareth. Initially, the meeting doesn't go well as Gareth stars boring Elliot with stories about darts. However, when Elliot shows off his mathematical and scientific knowledge, Gareth's impressed and the pair begin to bond. After their meeting, Elliot still doesn't know what to think but Leila convinces him to give Gareth a chance….

Meanwhile, when Ste turns up late for work again, it's the last straw and Tony dismisses him. Daniel speaks on the phone to a couple that wants to adopt Lucas. He lets Abi take Lucas out for the day, but is perturbed by how attached she's becoming. Daniel's further alarmed when Ste returns home as he's arranged an interview with Sandy and John who want to adopt Lucas.

As the couple arrive, Daniel tries to shift Ste out of the way but he insists on staying, unaware that the couple want to take Lucas. Throughout the interview, Ste gives John and Sandy a hard time. Daniel avoids mentioning Lucas by name in front of Ste, but he tells John and Sandy that the parents are teenagers who can't cope.

Daniel asks Ste not to tell Abi about the interview, before slipping more caffeine tablets into Ste's drink. When Abi returns home, she barely lets Ste see Lucas. Daniel's alarmed by her behaviour and there's a chilling moment when he tells Ste that John and Sandy should get their child soon…

Elsewhere, Steph's agreed to cook paella for Fernando but can't find any ingredients in Drive 'N' Buy. Gilly comes to the rescue when he suggests that she cook a Spanish omelette instead. As he's giving her a recipe, Gilly playfully bemoans the fact that he's not the lucky man who gets to have Steph cook for him.

The meal goes well until Steph spills wine on Fernando's shirt. As she gives him one of Max's old tops to wear, Steph can't help but feel weird. When Fernando suggests that Steph changes and expands MOBS, she becomes very touchy and reminds him that MOBS was Max's and asks him to leave. Steph feels down, but her spirits are lifted as she remembers how funny Gilly was earlier in the day…
