Smith firm as Gold Logie favourite
Former Neighbours veteran Ian Smith is the favourite to win the coveted Gold Logie at this weekend's TV Week Logie Awards, reports the Herald Sun.

According to betting agency Sportingbet Australia, Smith, who left Australian screens in February as character Harold Bishop, is now equal favourite with Packed To The Rafters actress Rebecca Gibney to win the award for Most Popular Personality On Television.

Former Home and Away star Kate Ritchie is currently third favourite to take home the Gold Logie.

Speaking about his winning chances, Smith told the Hearld Sun: "Sometimes with the English language there are not enough words to describe how you feel

"It is big enough that I've been nominated. I think I would be terrified if I won. I would have to stand up there and make a speech and I'm no good at making speeches."

Recently, Smith has been the focus of a public 'We Heart Harold' campaign run by Neighbours to drum up support for the retired star in the lead up to Sunday's ceremony.
