'Neighbours' scores ratings win over 'H&A'
Neighbours has scored a rare ratings win over Home and Away in Australia.

Friday's episode, which focused on the aftermath of a tragic car accident involving a much-loved Ramsay Street family, was watched by 998,000 people and ranked as the night's sixth most watched show.

Meanwhile, Home and Away, which showcased the teens' school trek, slumped to a low of just 981,000 people in the culmination of a three-month head-to-head battle against ratings powerhouse MasterChef Australia.

While the enormous popularity of MasterChef has had a negative impact on Home and Away's ratings, it has had the opposite effect on its lead-in Neighbours.

The iconic soap has been boosted by the popularity of the reality cooking series and has seen its ratings steadily rise over recent weeks. Get the Inside Soap magazine on your iPhone or iPad
