Neighbours newcomer Ashleigh Brewer has revealed that she was thrilled to meet co-star Alan Fletcher when she first joined the soap.
The 18-year-old actress, who plays Kate Ramsay on the Australian show, told PA that she was a fan of the drama and Fletcher's character Karl Kennedy before she landed her part.
After comparing Fletcher to a "funny uncle", Brewer continued: "He's always really funny, he cracks me up - I was really excited and couldn't wait to meet Alan Fletcher, so that was really fun."
On how she followed the programme in her childhood, she added: "It's on at 6.30pm every night, and it was just always on in the background when I was growing up - I think it's a part of Australian culture. It's always on somewhere."
Brewer also said that she feels like she is part of a "fantastic little family" thanks to the kindness of her soap colleagues.
The star was first seen on Australian screens in May this year.
