'Neighbours' actress wants gritty role
Neighbours star Margot Robbie has revealed that she would like to play a character with a mental illness.

The 19-year-old actress, best known for her role as Donna Freedman on the Australian soap, said that she will be looking for gritty parts when she tries to launch a US career in the future.

Speaking to PA, she explained: "I've always wanted to play a crazy person - someone with a mental illness. I think that would be fascinating, or something that would involve a lot of research and groundwork."

Robbie confirmed that she is currently contracted with Neighbours until April and does not yet know when she will decide to concentrate on cracking America.

Asked whether she would consider British work offers, she replied: "The jobs I want to do in the future would be Hollywood movies rather than theatre or the music industry, which thrive more in the UK, so no, I'm not sure I'd work too much in the UK, but I definitely hope to come and visit."

The soap star made her first appearance as Donna last year and the character has since become a favourite with fans. Get the Inside Soap magazine on your iPhone or iPad
