Vine admits to 'Neighbours' confusion

Tim Vine has admitted that he was unfamiliar with the latest crop of Neighbours stars when he made his cameo appearance on the programme.

The comedian filmed a short scene for the show last April while in Australia for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Vine's soap debut saw him playing a tourist who asked Elle Robinson (Pippa Black) and Lucas Fitzgerald (Scott Major) for directions to the Lassiters hotel, but he has now confessed that he had never heard of either character before.

Reflecting on the experience, Vine told Den of Geek: "The funny thing about it was that I didn't know the characters. I haven't watched it for so long, so I didn't know there was a girl called Pip or Elle or something, and then there was a couple of blokes, one called Lucas.

"And it was one little scene, and obviously I had no idea what story was coming out of it. I just sat outside Lassiters, and I was aware of trying to manoeuvre my head so that when the two of them were talking I was in the background and able to see the lens of the camera between their heads. I moved my head so it was definitely in shot, and then wandered over and asked them directions."

Vine also said that while he found it "very, very surreal" to step foot in Erinsborough, he thought the experience was "special".
