Later this week, British fans will see the actor's villainous character Paul Robinson left fighting for his life when a mystery assailant pushes him from the mezzanine level of Lassiters. The shocking incident - which takes place in the show's 6,000th episode - sparks a whodunit investigation with many twists and turns.
Speaking to Digital Spy about whether he knew who the culprit was during filming, Dennis admitted: "Yes, I did, however I was the only cast member who did know for quite a while.
"I was sworn to secrecy - and for the first time ever, I had to actually fib to other cast members that I didn't know!"
Teasing the climax to the storyline, he added: "The person who it is is very good - it's not at all what you expect, so I think viewers will be taken by surprise - it's great storytelling."
Neighbours' 6,000th edition will be screened in the UK on Friday. Meanwhile, episodes airing over the course of this week show the build-up to the attack on Paul and present a motive for each of the suspects.
