Later this week, viewers in the UK will see a whodunit mystery begin when Paul (Stefan Dennis) is pushed from the mezzanine level of Lassiters - just as tempers on Ramsay Street are reaching boiling point due to his lies and manipulation.
As Paul fights for his life in the aftermath of the shock attack, Andrew becomes one of the many suspects when a police investigation is launched.
However, speaking to Inside Soap, Smith commented: "You have to remember that Andrew loves Paul, and all he's ever wanted is his approval.
"I don't think Andrew has it in him to harm his dad. If anything, he's determined to get revenge against the person who did do it."
Discussing why Andrew falls under suspicion, the actor explained: "Paul had a big fight with Andrew before the accident. Andrew even told Summer Hoyland that he wanted Paul dead - you can't get much more incriminating than that!"
Paul's dramatic fall will be screened in Neighbours' 6,000th episode on Friday.
