Ashleigh Brewer has admitted that she was sad to see her Neighbours co-star Margot Robbie leave the soap earlier this year.

Robbie filmed her final scenes as Ramsay Street favourite Donna Freedman last month after deciding to focus on her US career ambitions. Her last episode will air in early 2011.

A number of other cast members have also recently bowed out of the long-running show, including Carla Bonner (Steph Scully) and Sam Clark (Ringo Brown).

Speaking about the departures, Brewer told Holy Soap: "The hardest person to let go of was Margot."

The actress - who plays Kate Ramsay - continued: "She was a really respected colleague and friend. It was hard to say goodbye but she's on to bigger and better things."

Brewer and Robbie became close friends while working together and were even housemates for part of their time as Neighbours colleagues.

"She lived with me last year but not now, I'm on my own, and she decided to move in with her boyfriend - but we remained really close at work," Brewer said. "I miss her."
