Neighbours star Carla Bonner has been fined AU$1000 after being convicted of driving offences.

The actress, who plays Stephanie Hoyland on the Aussie soap, reversed her Jeep Laredo into another vehicle at a shopping centre last month. The other car, a Holden Barina, had be to towed due to "extensive damage" which was caused to it in the accident.

Bonner, 34, was driving with a licence that had not been renewed at the time of the crash. She also gave the other driver a friend's name and address.

Carla did not appear in court, but pleaded guilty to failing to give a name and address, reversing when unsafe and unlicensed driving, via letter.

Magistrate Fiona Stewart said that Bonner had taken steps to resolve the situation, and this was taken into consideration by the court.

"I take into account the damage to the vehicle has been paid for," Stewart explained. "I take into account that while charged with unlicensed driving, the defendant was actually driving with a licence that had not been renewed."
