5649: Steve becomes obsessed with a fish

Paul can’t contain his jealousy at Rebecca’s apparent happiness with Andrew. He dredges up a previously spiked article about a tragedy in Andrew’s past that could ruin his reputation. Miranda discovers Paul’s plan to publish the article and warns Rebecca at the risk of losing her new start to single life working at Lassiters.

Andrew assures Rebecca he can cope with anything as long as he has her and springs a big question on her: will she move in with him? He’s handsome, and he loves her. So why is she still so uncertain…?

Libby and Dan argue over Dan’s threat to smack Ben. Libby questions whether she can trust Dan to refrain from violence while Dan is hurt to learn what Libby thinks he is capable of. Susan helps Libby to understand that Dan needs to be treated as though he has an equal role in parenting Ben.

Miranda brings Steve a sick fish to look after and Steve invests deeply in the animal as if it represents his own attempt to regain control over his life. Lucas, the other bereft male of Ramsay Street rallies to will the fish to get well.

Cass’s front crumbles as Paul continues to ignore her, and Tegan finds the courage to defy her, prompting a very public family meltdown. Unable to either defend his sister or understand his mother, Simon lashes out in some mischief of his own…
