Arriving at Charlie's following his run-in with Elle, Paul is greeted lovingly by Rebecca who thanks him for the lovely flowers he sent her. However, his happiness is short-lived when he's visited by DS Morris and taken down to the police station for questioning over Jill's death.
At the police station, Paul is questioned as to why he was with Jill at the time of her accident. Paul insists that he was trying to make Jill see sense. When DS Morris introduces Elle's statement, she taunts Paul, saying it doesn't look good if his own daughter thinks he's guilty. Following a gruelling round of questioning, Paul is released and as he leaves the police station he is greeted by a media scrum who have their own round of questions for him.
Elle is relieved when Susan says that she has no plans to cover Paul's arrest in the Erinsborough News. Susan tells Elle that she did the right thing by going to the police and admits that ever since he started seeing Rebecca Paul has become a changed man. Susan insists that Elle needs to keep digging to uncover the truth about Jill's accident. Having enlisted Lucas's help, Elle learns that one of Lucas's mates - who happens to be a panel beater - recently worked on a car that matches the description of the one that hit Jill.
Managing to track down the owner of the ute, Elle, Lucas and Susan question him over the accident. Despite the man insisting he hit a kangaroo, Susan tells him about Jill's death and the fact she left three children behind. The owner of the ute admits that it was Jill he hit but maintains he couldn't have prevented the accident. He describes to Elle how a man matching Paul's description was arguing with Jill and pushed her in front of his car - he had no time to swerve to try and avoid the collision.
Having hired Toadie as his lawyer, Paul is relieved to be told that the chances of police laying charges are low due to the fact that there's no witnesses. However, before Paul has time to relax, DS Morris arrives at Charlie's and tells Paul she'd like to have another chat with him.
Later, Rebecca visits Elle furious at her for dobbing Paul in to the police, but Susan tells her that there's more to the situation than meets the eye - there was a witness and it appears as though Paul pushed Jill into the path of the oncoming vehicle.
Donna admits to Sunny that she's not over Ringo. Determined to get the star-crossed lovers back together, Sunny plants a bunch of flowers in Donna's locker. However, the plan backfires when Donna thinks that they're from Kyle. When Ringo questions Sunny whether Donna fell for her plan, Sunny admits that it's going to be harder than she first thought.
