5709: Susan offers to be Libby's surrogate

Karl is upset at Susan's plan to offer to be the surrogate for Libby and Dan. Despite Susan protesting that her doctor has given her the all clear, Karl refuses to support her in her decision. The next day, there's a thick tension between the pair as they have breakfast with Libby, Dan and Ben at Harold's Store. Following a tense exchange between her parents, Libby can't help but worry that something is wrong with Susan. Later, when Libby visits Susan, she questions her about what's wrong. Just when Susan is about to reveal all, Karl arrives home and tells Libby to leave - he needs a word alone with Susan. Karl tells Susan that this isn't her decision, it's theirs, but when Susan asks what happens if they can't agree, Karl is unable to give her a solid answer. Later, against Karl's wishes, Susan speaks to Libby and offers to be the surrogate for her and Dan.

With Paul still overseas, Rebecca receives a call from him but has to end it suddenly when Elle appears. Despite Elle's questioning, Rebecca maintains that everything is fine and claims she doesn't know where Paul is. Later, Elle goes looking for Rebecca at Charlie's, but when she can't find her, Lucas senses that something is wrong. Talking to Elle about it, she reveals to Lucas that she thinks Rebecca knows where Paul is but won't say. Lucas offers to help Elle find Rebecca.

At Harold's Store, Lou begs Kate to return to work, but despite Lou's best efforts, she stands her ground, refusing to work for a Robinson. Later, Sophie shows Kate the drawing of a car accident and tells her sister it is the car accident involving their mum, Jill. Kate looks on shocked, realising that Rebecca was right.

Later, Paul returns and Rebecca asks whether he found the Ramsay kids' father. Paul tells Rebecca that Patrick died three years ago, so the kids really do have no-one. Elle arrives at the house and tells Rebecca she knows she's been in contact with Paul. Despite Rebecca protesting her innocence, Paul emerges from the laundry and tells Elle everything. Rebecca reveals that Sophie witnessed the accident and her drawings prove that Paul is innocent. However, Paul insists that the Ramsay kids be left alone. Instead, he phones the police and tells them he wants to turn himself in. When the police arrive, Sophie remembers the accident and runs up to Paul, thanking him for trying to save her mother.
