6279: Jade makes a decision

When Jade receives Malcolm's text, she's surprised to see that her attempts to push him away haven't worked. When Malcolm confronts her about not replying, Jade's forced to shut him down bluntly - without giving away the fact that she was only ever using him to push Kyle away.

While Malcolm lets go of the idea of ever being with Jade, Rhys accuses her of being too afraid to pursue something real with Kyle. Off Rhys's challenge, Jade's confronted by all the reasons she should be with Kyle, but ultimately decides to go for the emotionless "safe" option: married Malcolm.

Meanwhile, Kate's desperate to move on from her mistake with Noah, but her efforts are thwarted when he puts himself back in her orbit. Kate's discomfort pushes her to find an escape in an unlikely source - the book club with Susan and Sonya.

Despite the distraction, Kate finds herself continually haunted by her mistake. Sonya clocks Kate's distress and misreads it as a consequence of Brennan's death. Sonya urges Kate to unburden herself of her grief and confide in someone. Relating Sonya's advice to Noah, Kate ultimately decides to go against it, resolving to keep this secret to herself for as long as she can.
