Home and Away star Luke Jacobz has expressed surprise over his Logie Award nomination.

Last month, it was announced that Jacobz had landed a nod in the 'Most Popular Actor' category, pitting him against co-stars Todd Lasance (Aden Jefferies) and Ray Meagher (Alf Stewart).

The 29-year-old, who plays Summer Bay's Angelo Rosetta, also faces competition from Packed To The Rafters actors Hugh Sheridan and Erik Thomson.

Speaking to TV Week about the recognition, Jacobz admitted: "My character isn't well liked, so I don't know how I got nominated!"

Jacobz also confessed that he feels torn following the announcement that Meagher and Esther Anderson (Charlie Buckton) are both in the running for the prestigious Gold Logie, which goes to the most popular personality on Australian television.

He said: "I want Ray to win. But on the other hand, I do 95% of my work with Esther so I'd love her to win. But no matter what happens, I'll support Esther. If Ray wins, I want him to cut a little bit off and give it to Esther, and vice versa!"
