Meagher (Alf Stewart) has been nominated for the prestigious prize alongside Summer Bay colleague Esther Anderson (Charlie Buckton) and a number of other faces from Australian TV.
Speaking out in support of Meagher, Nicodemou told TV Week: "He has been an institution in the show and in Australian television. The character of Alf Stewart is known around the world, and I think he deserves to be recognised and win."
The actress, who plays Leah Patterson-Baker, also praised Meagher's professionalism and caring nature.
She said: "He has never been late to work! Ray is really funny, warm and always has a great story to tell. He is an all-round fantastic, lovely guy - he's like your uncle, husband and best friend rolled into one!"
