'H&A' lovers 'don't want' romance plot

Luke Mitchell has admitted that he would not like girlfriend Rebecca Breeds to be his love interest in Home and Away.

The pair, who play Summer Bay regulars Romeo Smith and Ruby Buckton, recently confirmed that they are dating in real life.

Speaking to TV Week, Mitchell confessed that he and Breeds are grateful for the fact that they are not required to share much screen time.

The 25-year-old explained: "I suppose the good thing is that our characters don't do that many scenes together. Obviously we see each other at work all the time, but I reckon it'd be more difficult if we were love interests on the show and were involved on screen and off.

"So it's kinda cool - we have incidental scenes every now and again, and that's fun to do."

Asked whether he finds it hard to turn off his attraction to Breeds at work, he replied: "I should be careful how I answer this, shouldn't I? No, I quite like to think that I'm professional with my job, so I can just switch into professional mode and switch it all off."
