The real-life couple, who confirmed their off-screen romance back in April, became inspired to help the Sovanapoom Orphanage during a recent trip to the south-east Asian country.
Breeds - who plays Summer Bay's Ruby Buckton - told The Sunday Telegraph: "Your heart goes out to them. The place needs to be rebuilt and it needs help to be rebuilt.
"The sex trade is something that has flared up as a result of the country being so vulnerable and people are taking advantage of that. At the orphanage, there are girls as young as four who were almost sold into that industry."
Mitchell - better known as Romeo Smith on the soap - added: "Seeing what it's like for these kids is a humbling experience… in our industry, we're lucky to be in the position we're in, so if we can do something, we should. We'd never done anything like this, but we thought, 'Let's just do it, let's at least try'."
The pair will host a ticketed fundraising dinner and charity auction in December in a bid to reach the AU$200,000 total. The event - called Christmas For The Kids - will be held at the Bayview Boulevard hotel in Sydney on December 10.
