Home and Away's Leah Patterson-Baker will finally find true happiness this year, the soap's series producer Cameron Welsh has revealed.

The long-standing character - played by Ada Nicodemou - will see her life change for the better in the aftermath of some tougher times in the months ahead.

In an interview with TV Week, Welsh explained: "We hope this is the year Leah will find ultimate happiness, but in true Leah style, there's a rocky road ahead before she gets there.

"Leah's life will be thrown into chaos by Elijah's unexpected return from Africa - she'll be forced to confront her feelings for him and another Summer Bay resident. But not before VJ stirs up his own brand of chaos."

Welsh also claimed that long-term fans of the Summer Bay show have lots to look forward to this year.

He said: "Home and Away has always honoured its past. That's why big storylines for Roo and Marilyn, and the return of Morag, will keep our loyal fanbase more than happy."
