Tessa James 'excited' about baby plot

Tessa James has revealed that she was "excited" when she heard the details of her upcoming storyline in Home and Away.

James's character Nicole Franklin has recently discovered that she is pregnant with the baby of Penn Graham (Christian Clark), after the death of her manipulative former boyfriend.

However, despite now being enthusiastic about the twist, the actress, who has shot her final scenes in Summer Bay, admitted that she was not thrilled at first.

James told Inside Soap: "The one thing I said upon joining the show was, 'You can do anything with my character, just please don't make her pregnant.'

"I went in to see our producer later and he said, 'Okay, I'm going to apologise in advance - we're making Nicole pregnant!'"

She added: "Because it's the typical soap teenage pregnancy thing, I didn't want to go there - I thought Nicole should be different. But when they explained to me what would happen, I was really excited at the challenges ahead."
