Late 'Home and Away' star Belinda Emmett's brother to join show

Belinda Emmett's brother Shane has joined the cast of Home and Away temporarily.

Shane said that his sister, who played Donald Fisher's daughter Rebecca in the Aussie soap before losing her battle with cancer five years ago aged 32, haunted him all over the Home and Away set.

He told The Sunday Telegraph: "Of all the gigs, I knew it would be difficult because Belinda spent so much of her professional time there.

"There are a lot of the characters Belinda used to work with still there, so I found myself surrounded by her."

Shane further explained: "I'd come out of the green room and there'd be Belinda on the cover of TV Week on the wall. In many ways it was a little sad, but it was also nice to be able to connect with her in that way, to work with some of the same people she did.

"They'd come up between takes to let me know what they thought of her, or to share a little story, and that was emotional at times but ultimately lovely. I was glad for the experience."

Shane said that he still spends time with Belinda's husband, chatshow host Rove McManus, despite the fact that he has remarried actress Tasma Walton, saying: "We're still very much brothers."

McManus recently revealed that everything "switched off" for him when Belinda died.
