Melissa George's 'Home and Away' co-star 'asked to be killed off'

By
Former Home and Away star Dieter Brummer has revealed that he asked producers to kill off his character as he didn't enjoy working with Melissa George.

The pair played popular couple Shane and Angel Parrish in the Australian soap until 1996, when Brummer's character died from blood poisoning.

The actor has since weighed in on George's recent comments about Home and Away, during which she vented her anger at still being associated with the show.

She said: "My next call will be to Home and Away to ask them to pay me because nobody does more promotion for that f**king show than me.

"I love [Sydney] so much. I want to come home a lot but the stress that this has created in me is not worthy of my health. I think it will be the last time [I visit and work here] for a while, to be honest, because I just get too upset coming home.''

Brummer has since told Woman's Day: "We may have been love interests on the show but the chemistry was far from real!

"Mel was incredibly ambitious right from the outset. I think she wanted to be the next Kylie Minogue.

"She was a big fan and she aspired to be a big star just like Kylie. I don't think she had much time for the cast of Home and Away."

Brummer added that her rant was "unnecessary and a bit ridiculous - but then that's Mel".

Prison Break star Dominic Purcell, who had a brief stint in Home and Away, has also criticised George's "immature" outburst. Get the Inside Soap magazine on your iPhone or iPad
