4861: Gardy returns to the Bay

With Gardy now long gone, a relieved Nicole is finally able to relax and support her father in his recuperation. Although having regained his eyesight, Roman still doesn't feel up to returning to work at the Diner. After initially talking to Leah and maintaining that he still needed more time to recover, Roman has a change of heart and decides that returning to work is the best thing for him. His plans, however, are thrown into chaos when Gardy makes a less than welcome return to the Bay.

Upset and creeped out by Gardy's return, Nicole escapes to the Surf Club, where she bumps into Trey. Having spoken to Ruby, Trey makes a heartfelt apology to Nicole. Still in a mood over Gardy's return, Nicole's cold response leaves Trey confused and questioning whether he's blown things for good.

After an evening of heavy drinking, Roman wakes up to find himself in the back of a van with Gardy. Puzzled as to what's occurring, Roman quizzes Gardy and is horrified when Gardy throws him a balaclava and a gun and tells him he wants Roman to help him in the armed robbery of the local bottle shop – and he's not taking no for an answer!

Having revealed his true feelings to Martha, Hugo does his best to avoid her and any awkward conversation that may arise. Confused by Hugo's confession and his apparent feelings for her, Martha decides they need to talk things through and visits Hugo on his boat. When Martha reminds Hugo that he can't avoid her forever – they live together and will have to talk about things at some point – Hugo snaps and demands that Martha stop being so perfect. He can't get her out of his head. Taken aback, Martha is left confused by Hugo's outburst and his true feelings for her.

Following the discovery of the severed hand and the shark attack on Hugo, tourists have decided to steer clear of the town and local businesses are suffering as a result. Deciding to take matters into their own hands, Alf and Miles conclude that the only way to get the tourists back to Summer Bay is to make sure the shark is taken care of once and for all. When the council refuses to fund the shark hunt for fear of bad press, Hugo – initially against the idea – comes around and suggests that the trio use his boat.

Furious at the planned shark hunt, Ruby and Jai protest the voyage to little reaction. Xavier, Kirsty and Ollie arrive at the wharf to say farewell to the trio and Ollie presents Miles with a good-luck gift - a waterproof torch. Having said their goodbyes, Alf, Hugo and Miles set sail in pursuit of the shark stalking Summer Bay.
