4873: Gardy takes Xavier hostage

Having been shot by Gardy, Roman is lying critically injured on the cold floor of the warehouse as Gardy casually goes about his business stealing laptops and other equipment. Realising that he's distracted, Roman summons up the strength and rises to his feet before disappearing into the expansive warehouse. Having noticed Roman's disappearance, Gardy begins hunting for him as a dangerous game of cat and mouse ensues. Roman gains the upper hand and, having managed to outsmart Gardy, grabs the criminal in a headlock, rendering him unconscious. However, the strain has taken an enormous toll on Roman and he too collapses.

Annie is upset at having discovered Irene drinking and confides in Belle. However, the distressed teenager is taken aback when Belle admits to knowing about Irene's relapse. Belle manages to convince Annie that together they can help Irene overcome her problem. Later, Belle confronts Irene and demands she hand over the alcohol. Irene refuses and before an argument can begin, Leah arrives with some afternoon tea.

Later, left alone with Irene, Annie suspects she has been drinking. While Irene protests her innocence, Annie finds the bottle of alcohol and, believing she's helping, starts to tip the contents of the bottle down the sink. Unable to cope, Irene snaps and tries to wrestle the bottle of alcohol from Annie's grip. When Annie refuses to relinquish the bottle, Irene lashes out and slaps her. Clearly shocked by what she's just done, Irene apologises but it's too little too late.

Helping Hugo to pick up a new shark cage, Xavier presses his brother about his feelings for Martha. Xavier insists that Hugo should speak to Martha in a bid to clear the air and salvage their friendship. When the two brothers try to load the new shark cage onto Hugo's trailer they find it's too heavy to lift. Xavier suggests going to get help from the nearby warehouse.

Inside the warehouse, both Gardy and Roman come to and Gardy pulls out a handgun. As Roman ducks for cover, an unwitting Xavier stumbles into the warehouse in search of help. Gardy grabs Xavier and takes him hostage, dragging him outside in a bid to make Roman surrender. However, Hugo comes to Xavier's rescue by aiming a harpoon at Gardy - he pulls the trigger. The harpoon narrowly misses Gardy and, as he points his gun at Hugo, he hears a gun cock behind him. It's Roman. Without further ado, Roman pulls the trigger, shooting Gardy in the leg. When Charlie finally arrives at the warehouse Gardy is nowhere to be found, having managed to escape into the river.
