The ‘real’ Jade Sutherland returns

Shellshock all round as the ‘real’ Jade Sutherland returns to Summer Bay. Mr and Mrs Degroot bring Laura to the Sutherland house. Seems the hospital was totally busy on the night of the three births, and mistakenly switched the two tots. Shelley is informed and says she’ll be there as quick as possible. But how to tell the twins? How will it affect them?
The news can’t be kept under wraps forever and when Laura decides to take a stroll around the town, Kane mistake her for Kirsty! Jade and Kirsty realise something is up and head home where they meet Laura. It’s too much for Jade. She was only just realising her freedom from her ‘twin’, and now she finds out she’s not even who she thought she was! Jade runs from the house. Kane of all people is the one who helps comfort her. ‘Family is about the people you care about – and who care about you’.
Laura and Kirsty get on like a house on fire straight away, causing jealousy in Jade who is ambivalent towards the Degroots – her real parents.
Dani’s editorial causes a stir. She receives a threatening note, while Hayley receives the devastating news that the uni has given her place to someone else and she won’t be able to return! Dani and Noah protest to the head of the faculty, but to no avail.
Shelley makes plans to get to know Laura in the city. Laura wants to do the same thing with Kirsty. Jade wants nothing to do with the Degroots, she flees the family in tears again as the Degroots return to the city. As far as Rhys, Beth and Shelley are concerned, Jade is their daughter because they love her, as simple as that. Jade accuses Kirsty of disowning her as a sister. But Kirsty says it’s not that she’s stopped loved Jade, it’s just that she’s found a part of herself she never knew existed.
