'Facing The Music'
Archie appears on edge today which George quickly picks up on. His phone starts ringing but he’s lost in thought. George prompts him to answer it, but he leaves George when he sees that it’s Kirsten! Kirsten informs him that today’s the day that they’re breaking into the lab facility to finish the job of getting valuable information from their computers! He’s still hesitant to go ahead with it but Kirsten again emphasises the importance of cracking them and he agrees to continue!

When Archie and Kirsten sneak into the facility for the second time in broad daylight, they are much more cunning. They get through the main door using Heston’s swipe card. It fails entry at first and two security guards watch on but luckily, the second swipe works and they proceed inside. Archie’s nerves are on tender hooks feeling that they stand out, but Kirsten comes up with a plan! She returns with a couple of lab coats and as inconspicuously as they can, make their way to the room with the spare computer terminal.

As Archie and Kirsten make haste to the room, a junior scientist (Keith Newby – 24) stops them in their tracks. He glances at the name badge on Archie’s lab coat. Keith’s in awe of meeting ‘Dr Cotton’, clearly a name known within the field. He questions Archie about his groundbreaking work. The pressure is on Archie but Archie stays calm and uses his medical knowledge to come up with a convincing answer which seems to satisfy Keith! When Archie and Kirsten finally get to the computer room, they know just where to find the file and they have the whole thing downloaded onto a portable disk drive. Archie is eager to get out but Kirsten’s in no rush and wants to search for more ammunition to use against the company.

Archie takes the pen drive from the computer and bundles her out of the room but they are stopped by the Keith again! He expresses that Archie looks good for his age, telling him that he made compelling work during the early nineties! This time, Archie can’t weave himself out of it and suspicions start dwindling in Keith’s mind! As they proceed to exit, the alarm sounds! The automatic shutter locking device kicks in and they have to make a run for it. Bundling under a closing shutter, they run deeper into the facility but face more guards giving chase!

Eventually Archie and Kirsten are forced to separate and the guards are right on Archie’s heel! He double backs on himself and takes refuge in an empty office! A window is open, the only escape, but he is on the first floor! He plunges to the ground below and steadily makes a run for it. He’s safe, but as soon as he turns to face the facility he sees that Kirsten hasn’t been so lucky, she’s been caught and is ushered away by two security guards!

Meanwhile, Kevin Peck (11) is a young pianist that has been playing since the early hours of the morning determined to practise a piece of music. He walks in on his mother (Sandra Peck 36) and father (Ian Peck 41) having breakfast claiming that he isn’t feeling well, but the wool won’t be pulled over Ian’s eyes; he thinks he’s trying to get out of a physical education lesson today! Alongside this, Jimmi examines Martin Aldworth (38), an exceptional pianist that has recently become reclusive ever since the death of his wife and son. Jimmi is quick to pick up on his depleted behaviour and promises that he’ll obtain information about group counselling and music therapy to help him. As Martin walks out of the surgery, Jimmi sees to his next patient, Kevin!

There’s a small glimmer of recognition between them but they don’t acknowledge each other! Sandra and Ian have brought him as a precaution but it isn’t long before Jimmi picks up on Kevin’s and Ian’s difference of opinions. Kevin wants private piano tuition and Ian wants him to be more active; tensions heat up and Kevin becomes ever more frustrated with his fathers intransigence and exits! Soon after, Sandra and Ian drop Kevin off at school, but as soon as they drive of her turns in the opposite direction and heads towards Martins house!

At the surgery Jimmi obtains information about group counselling from George and decides to take it over to Martin. When he arrives he’s greeted by a much cheerier Martin, a stark contrast to their earlier encounter! Additionally, Jimmi’s even more astonished to see Kevin happily playing away on Martins piano. Jimmi’s remark about school destroys Kevin and he guiltily hangs his head down low. Jimmi has no option but to call his mother to collect him. Back at home, Ian is furious that Kevin has gone behind his back and skived off school, even more enraged that he has been hanging around with a stranger!!

Kevin bolts out of the house as Sandra tries to calm Ian down. Ian warrants Martins address from Sandra which he quickly obtains and storms off. Unbeknownst to them, Kevin has taken refuge at Martins house. He’s evidently upset and Martin welcomes him with open arms! Sandra contacts Jimmi, pleading that he goes to Martins house to stop Martin from doing the unthinkable! She reveals to Jimmi that Ian was abused by a private tutor when he was younger which prompts Jimmi to follow on!

Martin show’s Kevin to his deceased son’s room and is left in utter shock when Martin offers it to him, to stay! Freaked out by Martins fervent desire for him to stay, Kevin lunges for the door but Martin blocks his path. Ian pounds at the front door, Kevin bangs on the upstairs window calling out for his father. When he sees Kevin being pulled from the window, he splinters the door away from the frame and heads upstairs. The two men wrathfully clash.

Jimmi arrives in the nick of time and splits them apart. It’s only when Kevin calls out for his father and Martin responds that Jimmi senses the instability of Martins mind! Enraged, Ian punches him sending him tumbling down the stairs. Soon after, police take Martin away as Jimmi tends to Martin. Jimmi listens to Ian pass judgement to today’s actions and learns more about his broken youth and love for the piano which he sadly gave up after he was abused. Later, Ian returns home without charge, and gratefully bonds again with the son he adores!
