'Defining Happy'
Ronnie calls George to arrange a lunch date. Daniel arrives and George asks how it went with Lisa and Izzie. He says it’s going well and has some pictures on his phone. George then gives Michelle a lift to the Campus. Ruth is at the Campus Surgery today but is still shaken after the business with Lenny last week.

There is still a frosty atmosphere between Michelle and Ruth. Michelle tells Ruth she would have done the same thing but it doesn’t help.
George and Ronnie have lunch at the Icon. They are both excited about trying for another baby.

Ronnie wants to get started immediately but a sad George explains her period has arrived early - George thinks it’s the start of early menopause. She gets home later and Ronnie has made dinner. He tells her to think like a doctor and asks if there might be another simpler reason why she is out of sync. They agree to try and relax about the whole thing a bit more and just have fun trying!

Michelle asks if Melody fancies a night out with her and Ruth. Melody is worried about failing her RCGP accreditation again and suggests that they go and see a clairvoyant instead of a standard night out. Ruth is not happy when Michelle tells her about their plan. The clairvoyant Meredith Ramsey (50s) lives in a modest house. Michelle thinks it’s a bit of fun at first until he mentions things that make her think of her father and Adam. Ruth comforts Michelle. Ruth then gets a ‘message’ from a woman who tells her to let go of the guilt - she thinks it’s about Vicki and gets a wild look in her eye.

Ruth goes back to Michelle’s for a drink. Both have been quite spooked by the evening’s events. Michelle, starting to get drunk, reveals she sometimes wonders what Adam is up to. She then decides to call it a night and heads upstairs. Ruth, going to follow, stops and stares at herself close up in the mirror – it’s clear her mental state is starting to fragment.

Meanwhile, Sara Denton (13) comes out of the bathroom and wraps herself in a blanket she finds in a cupboard. She is shocked and worried when she finds a holdall containing men’s clothes. Sean Ferris (mid 30s) is on his way to work on a building site as he gets a call - he’s not too pleased.

Sara and Sean see Dr. Woodson at the Campus surgery. Sara usually sees Dr Clay about her psoriasis but today Sara has been having stomach pains. George mistakes Sean as Sara’s step-father - and Sara tells her that she hopes he will be. She looks worried as George starts to examine her. George suggests some tests and Sara is disappointed not to get an immediate answer.

Sara and Sean are at home when Sara’s dad Vince Denton (late 30s) arrives. He kisses Sara on the head - and Sean on the lips. Vince has just got a new job so he couldn’t make it to Sara’s appointment this morning. Sean isn’t happy to hear that Vince has to go back to work that afternoon. Sara hurries from the room as Sean and Vince begin to argue.

Sara is sat miserable in the bathroom with Vince and Sean outside on the landing. She asks for more toilet paper. Vince turns to the cupboard but Sean cuts in, opens the door, and grabs some toilet rolls from behind his holdall. Vince has managed to get another doctor’s appointment for Sara later on. Vince tries to argue he doesn’t want to mess things up at work but Sean thinks family should come first. Sara wants both of them to come with her. Vince agrees to stay and settles down with Sara and a DVD and asks Sean to make them a sandwich. Sean doesn’t look happy.

Sara arrives at the Campus Surgery with Vince and Sean as Ruth and Michelle are leaving. Sara sees the look Michelle gives them and then mortifies Sean and Vince by announcing to all that they are lovers.

Sara reveals to George that she wishes Sean and Vince are as OK with being a couple as she is. She is really upset that they are giving up on each other. It all comes out that Sean thinks Vince is ashamed of them and Vince thinks Sean isn’t even out at work. Sara thinks they are only staying together because of her. Sara reveals she found Sean’s bag of clothes and thought he was going to leave. Sean suggests some time apart. Sara is distressed as that is what her mum said before she left.

George helps explains to Vince and Sean that Sara has literally worried herself sick and feels they aren’t committed to each other. Back at home Sara pleads with Vince to make Sean stay as he makes his move to leave them. Vince leans out the window and shouts to the world that he loves Sean. Sean strides to the window and does the same. Sara thinks it’s brilliant and they all hug, contented.
