'I Kissed A Girl'
Ruth awakes bright and cheery at Julia’s house. She’s disappointed to learn that Julia can’t meet her for lunch but will busy herself with washing. Before Julia leaves for work Ruth comments on Julia’s stylish headband; taking note of how good it looks and sending Julia off with a smile. Alone in the house Ruth has the bright idea of helping Julia by doing some of her laundry and totters off to get busy.

As she places the carefully folded laundry on Julia’s bed she is distracted by a headband similar to the one Julia was wearing. She puts it on, adopting Julia’s earlier pose until she realises that she’s losing control again. After speaking to Trudy, Ruth composes herself and practices some relaxation techniques.

Julia returns home delighted to find that Ruth has cooked dinner but is somewhat perturbed when Ruth reveals her earlier slip. She is supportive to Ruth but as she leaves the room, she’s not quite sure about what she’s let herself in for.

At the Campus Surgery Cherry is surprised to see Michelle hard at work on an admin day; and is left feeling slightly despondent when Michelle refuses her offer of help. Cherry’s next attempt to help falls flat when Michelle declines her offer of a sandwich and an evening at the cinema. Cherry tries again to raise Michelle’s spirits with a joke and manages to raise a half smile from her but at the end of the day when she returns to see her, Michelle has left without a trace.

Meanwhile, Unworldly student Belinda Larkin (19) wakes up in her halls of residence and realises she didn’t spend the night alone. Lying next to her is Amy Carville (19) who counters Belinda’s doubts: they’re friends, what does it matter? Belinda is less certain of her actions; she’s new to uni and coming from a small, remote town hasn’t given her the savvy of her bed buddy! Whilst making breakfast Belinda is caught out by a previous partner, Daryl Richardson (19) who questions her amorous antics but she gives nothing away.

Back in the bedroom Belinda watches entranced as Amy gets dressed but is unsure about going public with their new union. As Belinda tries to discretely say goodbye to Amy they are caught out by Daryl who can’t help but gawp as Amy plants a smacker on Belinda before leaving. Daryl has to stick his oar in and warns Belinda about Amy but then shocks her even more by revealing she could have contracted Chlamydia from him. She’ll have to get herself checked out and think about telling anyone else that might be infected.

Belinda sees Cherry for the Chlamydia testing kit and Cherry questions whether anyone else should be informed but they decide that Belinda can wait until the results: until then, no sex! On leaving the surgery she bumps into Daryl who guilt trips her into realising that she needs to tell Amy. Belinda tries to tell Amy about the infection but in doing so has to reveal a past, unnamed male ex which angers Amy; she thought they had something special. As Belinda makes an effort to appease Amy, Daryl appears to check Belinda is OK.

Amy is defensive and says Belinda is fine, she is with her. Amy then calls Daryl a creep, but when Belinda defends him and says he’s not, it’s revealed that Daryl is a former partner of Belinda. Amy warns Belinda that Daryl is a complete womaniser and she should be careful of what else she might pick up from him.

Confused, Belinda confronts Daryl, but is left reeling when he reveals that she has been his only sexual partner; it must be Belinda who has passed on the infection to him. Belinda does the rounds telling various exs of her incriminating situation then marches back to Cherry; mind made up that she needs to be tested comprehensively. She has her blood taken and explains to Cherry that she is confused about how she received the infection.

Belinda tells Cherry how she has tried so hard to fit in but has never managed to be ‘cool’ like some of the other girls; she still feels like the outsider and doesn’t know what she really wants. Cherry helps Belinda to realise that maybe neither Daryl or Amy are right for her as they don’t seem to make her feel good and she should take some time for herself.

Back in halls she overhears Daryl and Amy, and Belinda realises she has been duped when she spots them in a passionate embrace. She sits alone in her room, dismayed by how she has been used.
