'Some Romance'
Melody teases Simon for being nervous and stuttering and Daniel admonishes her for being so cruel; that was her not long ago. Feeling bad Melody tries to make amends by giving Simon some useful tips. He writes them down enthusiastically but in the end they both agree that when it comes to Heston, there is no preparation available!

Ruth reveals to Julia that she overheard her and Jimmi talking the other night and that she has decided to work somewhere else. Julia tries to convince her that the others will come round but Ruth is adamant. During the day Ruth goes to get her haircut. Despite a small panic attack Ruth decides on a short cute haircut.

That evening Julia argues again with Ruth that at a time like this she needs to be with her family, who are her friends at the Mill. Going back to work is perfect therapy for her. Ruth eventually agrees. She’ll start tomorrow!

Meanwhile, Margaret (49), librarian and romance writer, receives another rejection in the post from an agent. She arrives at work with a heavy heart to be greeted by Jenny (44) a library assistant. Jenny enthuses about Len (55) the builder who has offered to make over the library’s toilets for free. Margaret thanks Len and then Jenny drops the bombshell that her first novel is going to be published, they should celebrate!

Margaret is not in the mood and goes into her office to sulk. Julia, having a huge fine on her overdue library books visits Margaret for a favour. Julia tries to convince her that she needs to keep on trying with her romance novels but to no avail. Len overhears the two and kindly offers to get Margaret some lunch. She declines but Julia notices the blatant affection Len has for her.

Later at the Mill, Len arrives for a repeat prescription. Julia tries to talk to him but he rushes out. Daniel mentions to Julia that Len is meant to be living in Portugal relaxing, not replacing toilets in Letherbridge; he has angina. Meanwhile Margaret has asked Len to do an extra job and in return she’ll buy him some lunch, we see sparks between them.

Margaret returns to her office to find a bunch of flowers with a card saying “Never give up on romance”. Thinking they are from Julia, she calls to thank her. Julia however didn’t send them, it must be Len! Margaret is shocked but secretly thrilled. In the toilets Jenny is flirting with Len while he uncomfortably mentions how ‘someone’ is getting lunch for him.

Jealous, Jenny tempts him with a cream cake to celebrate. Not long after, Margaret arrives with the sandwiches only to be greeted by a flirtatious Jenny wiping cream from a frightened Len’s shirt. Devastated, Margaret rushes out. She is later followed by Jenny; Len is having an angina attack.

An ambulance is called for and despite Len’s protestations Jenny insists on going with him. Julia later turns up to check on Margaret. The librarian is fatalistic, Jenny can have it all; success and Len. Julia refuses to accept this; don’t all heroines have to overcome an obstacle to get their man? If she likes him she has to fight for him.

Margaret goes to see Len who has returned from hospital with a warning abut heavy work. She asks an annoyed Jenny to leave them alone and then nervously asks Len on a date. Len is thrilled but he’ll need time to book tickets… how does she fancy Portugal?
