'New Labour'
Michelle calls Julia first thing and tells her that she is happy to work with Ruth now. Julia is pleased but Ruth is edgy.

They both make an effort but Ruth inevitably crosses the line and Michelle has to ask her to keep it strictly professional. When Zara asks Michelle for a drink later she manages to say no.

At The Mill, Julia is on a charm offensive with Jimmi, who asks Lily if she knows what it’s all about and she tells him about the radio offer. Jimmi is determined not to do it, and Julia is miffed so tries reverse psychology. It works a treat as Jimmi decides he will do the radio show!

Meanwhile, Over breakfast Martin Patterson (42) exchanges some good natured banter with pregnant Katie Tompkins (19) while his wife Miranda Patterson (38) insists on accompanying her to the doctors.

At The Mill, Katie goes in to see Daniel alone and he has to break the news that she has tested positive for HIV. Horrified Katie runs out passing Miranda in reception.

Desperate to know what’s wrong Miranda tries to find her, but it’s Daniel who finds Katie drinking alone in The Icon Bar. She reveals she’s keeping the baby for Miranda and Martin in return for them helping her through university. She only had unprotected sex once, and thinks they’ll turn her out if they find out about the HIV.

Daniel assures Katie that having HIV is no guarantee she will pass it to her baby, and tells her he’ll help her break the news to Martin and Miranda. Back at the house Katie breaks the news to Miranda who tells her the arrangement is off. Katie suddenly develops abdominal pains, and Daniel asks Miranda to call an ambulance.

At the hospital, Katie is convinced that Miranda won’t come round, and wants a termination, but Martin turns up and begs Katie not to. Miranda insists Katie has made her decision, and makes her excuses and leaves.

On his way out of St Phil’s, Daniel finds Miranda sat alone outside the entrance. She tells him she feels awful, she lost a baby at seven months and couldn’t bear the thought of it happening again. Daniel doesn’t need to say anything as she returns inside and apologises to Katie. The three of them are reunited and optimistic for the future.
