Michelle and Ruth are both working at the Mill and Ruth preaches to everyone about the five stages of grief. Michelle finally loses her temper with her, telling her everyone is humouring her. But later Ruth retaliates by telling Michelle she of all people could do with reading about the stages of grief as she needs some help.
Before Michelle explodes with anger, Lily steps in and Michelle tells her she isn’t sure how much more she can put up with.
Meanwhile, Donny (17) desperately pleads on the phone for a second chance at his exams but to no avail. He hears his father arrive and cowers in the bathroom avoiding his abusive tirade. Frightened, Donny picks up some bottles of pills. Later we see him run from the house and jump into his dad’s car.
During his first day at the radio station Jimmi gets a phone call from Donny; he’s taken pills and wants to know how long he will take to die. Jimmi struggles to keep Donny talking as Cerys gets information about the drugs from his father.
Jimmi discovers from Donny that his father pushes him to succeed, beating him. Jimmi empathises with Donny and after Donny hangs up, Jimmi calls him from his mobile.
Donny is stood on a bridge over a river, contemplating jumping. Jimmi gets him talking about his girlfriend and about his music, eventually persuading the teen that life is worth living. Jimmi tries to get him to tell him where he is, but Donny says he will come to the radio station, but the drugs have taken hold and his movements are laboured. Before he can tell Jimmi where he is, Donny’s battery runs out.
Jimmi rushes out of the station looking for him, and finds him just in time collapsed in the street leading to the radio station. The ambulance arrives as Jimmi holds the boy’s hand reassuring him all will be fine.
