At lunch, Michelle tells Ruth she’s never going to be able to stand being near her, but there are other places to work. Ruth says that Michelle would be missed, and Michelle agrees, and convinces Ruth that with another job she could start afresh.
Back at the Mill, Ruth composes herself in the toilets when Zara comes in and asks what’s wrong. Minutes later Zara marches into the staff room with Ruth behind her, and admonishes Michelle for being so insensitive to Ruth.
Zara asks Ruth if she wants to leave and Ruth finally stands up for herself telling Michelle that the Mill is all she has. Michelle is left devastated her plan hasn’t worked.
Meanwhile, Heston has a dinner dance looming and he decides to brush up on his steps to impress Lily. He goes to a local dance school where he watches Tamara (28) and Wallace (35) float around the dance floor.
Later, Heston attempts to dance with Tamara but she faints and after hearing her symptoms he concludes she could be pregnant. Wallace is horrified; what about their act? He declares their partnership is over. Meanwhile Lily convinces Julia to help her buy an outfit for the dance she is so reluctant to go to.
Later Tamara, AKA Jenny, arrives at the Mill to talk to Heston. She is pregnant and she wants to discuss her options. She explains that she and Wallace have a purely professional relationship and that the baby is the product of a one night stand. However she doesn’t want to lose Wallace and so asks about a termination. Tamara returns to Wallace only to find another dancer has already taken her place.
A shocked Tamara promises Wallace that business can go on as usual. Heston later returns to the dance hall to talk to Tamara, and just as the music stops Tamara declares that she does want the baby. Wallace is stunned and Tamara runs out crying. Heston makes Wallace see that Tamara will do anything for him because she’s in love with him.
A shocked Wallace approaches her with Heston, who forces him to tell Tamara he loves her and wants to help with the baby. All of the students applaud the couple. Heston then receives a call from Lily; she doesn’t really want to go to the dance. He lies that he’d prefer to just be with the boys anyway. He stays to watch the lovers dance.
