'The People at the Top of the Stairs'

Sunny Cherry has made fairy cakes and includes a special one for Michelle who stomps in annoyed that they've got a huge travel vaccination clinic on today. Cherry does her best to be cheery during the day but Michelle clearly isn't making the same effort.

At lunchtime, Cherry mentions to Simon that Michelle seems a bit off today meanwhile Michelle takes a swig of her vodka in the loos.

Things are looking up for the girls when the gorgeous Ciaran Wright (22) arrives for his jab but he admits he is terrified of needles. Cherry reassures him but Michelle gets the hump and storms out leaving Cherry bemused.

Eventually Michelle stomps back in and hands Cherry the injection who administers it, suddenly Mr Wright goes into anaphylactic shock. The nurses administer emergency adrenaline and call an ambulance, Michelle passed Cherry the wrong injection.

When Julia wants to see them both Michelle takes control, she covers well but to Cherry's horror says Cherry picked up the wrong needle. Upset Cherry is left speechless and Julia has no choice but to suspend her.

Heston arranges for he and Lily to go out for a meal the following day, but when she says she can't make it he becomes intrigued. Why is Lily always busy on a Thursday night, where does she go?

Meanwhile, defiant old dragon Mrs Langley (77) sits alone in her house and shouts at the noises she hears from upstairs. Zara reluctantly arrives later anticipating Mrs Langley's usual bile which gets worse when Zara refuses her sleeping pills. Mrs Langley tells her about the people at the top of the stairs and Zara says she will have a look but finds nothing except dust.

Later, Mrs Langley again hears the noises from upstairs but takes a tumble when she tries to confront whoever is up there; Zara reluctantly goes back out to see to her. She is greeted by the same wrath of Mrs Langley but when Zara goes to find some water she is shocked to see Nigel Langley (49) at the top of the stairs; he tells her he is Mrs Langley's son but Mrs Langley told Zara her son died 30 years ago.

When Nigel confronts his mother she denies all knowledge of him and he reveals that it was 30 years ago he told his mum he was gay. Upset Nigel tells Zara that his mother hasn't changed despite his hopes; Zara isn't surprised but encourages him to confront her.

Just as Nigel thinks he has cracked her shell Mrs Langley's wrath returns; he has no choice but to leave.. They are both left alone in their private devastation.
