During lunch, Sue makes pleasant conversation with Todd, whilst Howard is very quiet and aloof. Sue and Howard go off to the Bull Ring, leaving Simon and Todd some time to themselves back home, where they end up sleeping together. The pair are together in bed, but are soon interrupted when Sue and Howard return home.
Later in the day, Howard confronts Sue about his feelings and tells her he wants a divorce. Sue is completely devastated, and suspects Howard of having an affair. Howard leaves and Simon is left to comfort his mum.
Meanwhile, Imogen isn’t talking to her parents about her future. Karen and Rob decide that they need to talk to her and try and get her to open up. Later in the day they confront her, and she tells them that she has her heart set on doing Art. Karen and Rob don’t believe that this is really a career prospect, but are amazed when Imogen shows them her work.
Meanwhile, while out shopping, Michelle comes across a mature wheelchair-bound lady, Jane Shields (56), talking to a uniformed policeman (Matt Shields, 30). Jane has had her purse stolen; Matt warns there is a pickpocket about. Jane drops a carrier bag, and so Michelle picks it up for her.
Back at the Mill, Michelle goes to pay Jimmi her share of the bills and realises that her purse has gone missing and that it must have been stolen. Luckily, she keeps her credit cards separate, but when she tries to get money out of an ATM, her card is swallowed. Shortly afterwards, Matt the policeman tampers with the same cash machine, and it is apparent that something is not quite right.
Michelle is furious to learn that her card has been used across town and that her money has been wiped out. Meanwhile, Matt the “policeman” gets into a Winnebago with Jane, who turns out to be his mother and accomplice, and they discuss their successful day’s work.
Later, Jane is posing as a charity collector when a teenage boy attempts to rob her of her collection, knocking her over in her wheelchair.
Matt takes his mother to The Mill to be checked out, and Jimmi informs her she has simply pulled a muscle. Michelle recognises Jane as she is leaving the Mill and confronts her about stealing her purse. When she realises that the plain-clothed Matt had been posing as the policeman, they quickly bundle her into their Winnebago, tie her up in Jane’s wheelchair and abandon her in a field.
Michelle is found by a farmer, who unties her, and she phones the police. The police soon catch up with Jane and Matt.
