Ruth is devastated that she’s made a fool of herself again but Lily and Heston reassure her; Heston offers to stay with her.
Later, Ruth confesses to Heston that she realises that she’s going to have to live with her condition for the rest of her life, Heston has a unique way of reassuring her that she’s not alone. He gently encourages her to take her medication.
Sue awakes with a hangover but is too overtaken with anger to notice as she rants at Simon about his father. He scuttles off to work where Cherry feels suitably guilty about the vodka yesterday.
Simon returns home at lunchtime where Sue has been frantically baking, Simon lets slip that he knew all weekend that his dad was going to leave Sue. He retreats back to work and returns home in the evening to the sound of Sue crying upstairs.
Meanwhile, after Carol Dunderdale (55) sees off a punter, she shares the spoils with two teenage girls inside, later she triumphantly counts up some financial figures.
Recently bereaved Melanie Webber (41) goes through her late father Stanley’s belongings, she notices the name ‘Carol’ repeatedly cropping up on his calendar, she desperately searches and her search leads her to the Campus where she finds an excited Cherry, Melanie was her mentor at college.
They go for lunch where Melanie asks Cherry if she ever saw her dad with a woman. Cherry didn’t but promises to help her track down this Carol.
They later return to Stanley’s house when they hear someone let themselves in; they find Carol nonchalantly watering one of the pot plants! Carol introduces herself and Melanie lets rip, Carol is forced to admit that Stanley used to be one of her punters, she’s a prostitute.
Melanie is outraged but listens to Carol as she tells her that her relationship with Stanley soon turned to innocent friendship, she misses him. However when Melanie hears Carol talking about having ‘two young girls good to go’ she jumps to conclusions.
However, Carol explains that she has used the money Stanley left her to set up a shelter for vulnerable young women, Melanie is pleased and apologises.
