Meanwhile, Rob tries to do some digging on Barry but finds he's thwarted at every turn and DS Richmond warns him off Barry without telling him why. Rob loses his temper; he's a police officer and should be able to help the public. Going against orders, Rob goes to see Barry in hospital. He knows he's hiding something and he wants answers.
Cherry wakes up full of aches and pains from her attack and is shaken at the apparent randomness of the event. Scott is a complete gem and phones Julia to tell her what's happened getting her a day off work. He then pampers Cherry with constant hot drinks and her favourite food. Simon comes round and treats Cherry's strained arm and puts it in a temporary sling.
Cherry's heart sinks when Scott gets a phone call referring to an urgent deal but Scott says his girlfriend has been hurt and he can't leave her regardless of what a good opportunity it may be. This means a lot to Cherry and as she snuggles up for the evening with strong, protective arms around her, she feels she's the luckiest girl in the world.
Meanwhile, it's early morning as Michael (16-year-old footballer on crutches) watches from his bedroom window as his brother Eddie (25) takes an envelope from, and is threatened by two heavies. Eddie stuffs the envelope in his pocket, and takes off on his jog. Michael is studying at the kitchen table when he hears the post arrive, and eagerly hobbles to fetch it but Eddie beats him to the Letherbridge Times, and sends him back to rest his leg.
Michael sees the state of his brother's bruised face, but Eddie is dismissive, he's a doorman, these things happen. Eddie goes out but returns early and catches Michael snooping in his room, having found the envelope of cash. Eddie tells him to mind his own business and snatches the cash back.
Daniel turns up for the house call; Michael's knee is doing well, but his promising football career is over. Eddie is adamant this isn't the case, they're saving the £30,000 for an op in the US. Daniel is impressed, but questions Eddie's bruises - with his medical history he needs to be careful.
Michael tells Eddie the op isn't worth Eddie getting in any trouble for but Eddie leaves the flat. Michael hobbles after him on his crutches, and seeing Eddie let into a warehouse by two heavies, calls Daniel, faking an injury to trick him into coming. Daniel is annoyed at being duped, but Michael tells him Eddie is going to get himself in trouble.
Daniel smoothes their way into the warehouse, and find Eddie prepping for an illegal boxing match. Despite being banned from boxing (one proper hit could mean he loses his sight) Eddie is being paid to take a dive. Eddie claims it's just to fund Michael's op but his brother says he's done with football, he wants to be a journalist and even had an article in this morning's newspaper.
But Eddie admits he can't let go of boxing, and be “just a bouncer”. The two brother's scuffle, and Eddie bangs his head. His vision is blurred for long enough to make Eddie realise his foolishness and decide to give up boxing.
