'New Dawn'
Anxious not to leave Cherry alone when he goes to work, Simon calls in reinforcements – Karen and Immie. Karen has a good nose around Simon’s cupboards and prescribes comfort food for all! Cherry becomes upset and admits she’s worried about Scott’s funeral the next day; she doesn’t know who he is – the kind, loving boyfriend or the criminal drug dealer. Karen puts her foot down in typical comic fashion and tells Cherry she must pull herself together.

Cherry tries to think about what she actually knew about Scott, he liked kites and loved his mum, he was devastated when she died – she decides she will go to the funeral. But later she receives a phone call from someone claiming to be Scott’s mother!

At the Campus Heston catches Ruth looking at rental properties on the internet; excited he offers to help her flat hunt! Later Ruth admits that she’s worried about living alone again, but both Lily and Heston reassure her. Heston feels there is no harm in looking!

Meanwhile, disabled Paul White (55) is comforted by over-bearing daughter Ava White (27) – she has to return to Hong Kong straight after her mother’s (his wife’s) memorial service. Later she meets up with Michelle, an old school friend, and admits she’s worried about leaving her dad. She wants to arrange home help whether he likes it or not, or maybe he should go back to Hong Kong with her.

Michelle accompanies Ava to her mum’s memorial where they meet Dawn Steele (55) whom Paul has asked to sing. Later Michelle is shocked to find Ava has booked two tickets to Hong Kong but hasn’t told her Dad. Michelle sees Paul and Dawn kissing outside.

Later, Ava is suspicious that something is going on and Michelle admits what she saw. Ava confronts Dawn and tells her she’s taking her dad back with her, but when Paul arrives he angrily tells Ava he’s not going anywhere, and admits he’s fallen in love with Dawn.

Ava’s mother could be difficult and overbearing and Dawn was a good friend to him when he was trying to care for her in the final years. Paul wants to stay in Letherbridge with Dawn.

Ava is furious, but later concedes that her mum could be hard work and she’s inherited her control freak nature and she’s glad her dad is happy! Paul asks her not to hurry back to Hong Kong.
