Back to earlier that day. Ignoring Simon's concerns, Heston advises Sia to take the week off work, but despite this Sia is determined to try and track down the video online of Lewis brandishing a gun.
Rob takes Jack for an early morning butty, to quiz him on Lewis, but Jack is self-righteous about supporting Lewis. Meanwhile Lewis is at the Hollins house with Immie, explaining that he thinks the real focus of her artwork shouldn't be the passive victims of gun crime, but the ones with the courage to pull the trigger. Immie tries to warn Jack about Lewis, but he won't listen. Karen tells Gerry they won't take Lewis for Easter, he'll have to organise something else while the halls are closed.
Jack and Lewis play their Trigger King computer game against an online player, not knowing it's Lewis's brother Ned. During the game Lewis's violence shocks Jack, and he's even more surprised to learn that Lewis started the fire and went for Ellie with the knife. Lewis reveals he's planning something bigger to punish the rubbish that clogs up the world, and wants Jack onside. Disgusted, Jack walks away.
Daniel has to drop out of the ball, so Simon is offered his ticket, and although he accepts he's more concerned with what's going on with Lewis. When Sia phones to say Lewis has contacted her, admitting he needs help, Simon tells her she should call the police. Sia is adamant she should trust Lewis though, and says she's meeting him that night.
Meanwhile, Ellie receives an email from "Jack Hollins" apologising, and asking to meet up that evening.
Ned runs from the Cutler house, heading into uni on a mission. Jack returns home to find a hand delivered letter telling him he's been picked for a free student accommodation bursary – and that he should attend a meeting on campus that evening. Lewis stands in front of his webcam in halls, loading the gun, and announcing "This is judgement day".
While the Mill is in a flap preparing for the ball, Zara takes Simon aside and shows him a file she's acquired regarding Lewis. It shows he's had significant psychological problems, but never had treatment. When Sia doesn't answer her phone, Simon rushes off to find her, leaving the file on his desk.
While Karen is locking up she finds the file, and is shocked by the contents, but can't get hold of Rob.
At home Immie takes a closer look at her artwork, and sees that Lewis has placed small photos of Sia, Ellie and Jack along with the photos of victims of gun crime.
Karen comes home to find Immie sobbing and reads Jack's letter about the accommodation. She calls the uni, quickly establishing it's a fake. Unable to get hold of Jack on the phone, Karen drives to the uni to find the him. Simon goes to see Rob at the police station to tell him about the file on Lewis, and that Sia is meeting with him. Immie calls Rob and tells him about Jack's fake letter and meeting and then Karen calls him to say she's gone to intercept Jack.
Jack, Ellie, Sia and Ned arrive in the otherwise deserted class room, bemused to find each other there. Karen arrives and tries to hurry Jack out the room, but he hesitates, and Lewis storms in holding a gun, locking the door behind him. Simon and Rob run across campus towards the block where Jack, Karen and the others all are, when a gunshot rings out. In the classroom, we see blood on the floor – but whose is it?
