Desperate, Simon tries to call Will, and when he confides in Cherry Zara overhears and naturally takes the mickey. Meanwhile a manic Sophie eventually talks to Will wanting to know how many affairs he's had with men.

Will admits he's in love with Simon; Sophie must have known he was gay. Sophie tells Will he can have Simon but not in her house, and that they must stay together for Ben's sake.

Delighted, Will calls Simon but is stunned when Simon simply tells him it's over. The tap rehearsals are proving to be a disaster, and Ruth can't believe everyone wants to give up so easily.

Julia confesses to Heston it means so much to Ruth but they're all going to look like a bunch of idiots – he suggests if they are bad they should be spectacularly bad! As they all leave at the end of the day they tell an alarmed Ruth of their plan to have her as the star of the show so that they can fade into the background!

Meanwhile, Leah Whitehead (26) gathers together research into an envelope in her flat, while her boyfriend Josh Lane (28) and obviously disapproving mother Diana (50) have breakfast together in their home; he's the apple of her eye.

Leah sees Josh at his garage and returns some of his belongings and the envelope which she says contains information on his mother's family. Josh is bemused as he doesn't have any family. When Diana phones Josh, he doesn't mention the envelope and throws it away. Michelle – an old friend of Josh - arrives at the garage to have her car MOT'd.

While Josh confides in Michelle that he found some old belongings of his mum's with the name Judith Danvers-Leigh on, Diana calls the Samaritans revealing she changed her identity just before Josh was born and never told him about her past.

Josh tells Michelle about the envelope and what Leah said about it and they find and open the envelope. They discover Diana was called Judith Danvers-Leigh and was married to Anthony Seymour – his father.

Diana tells the Samaritan Tony was locked up, he'd done dreadful things. As Josh and Michelle set off to find his grandparents in Coventry we see Leah looking at a newspaper article - 'Beast Rapes and Murders 6 Women'. Leah goes to see Josh at Diana's but he isn't there.

Angry, Diana asks why Leah had to rake up the past like this. Leah insists Josh had a right to know but the row leads Diana to have a seizure. Michelle and Josh arrive and call an ambulance.

Michelle thinks Leah was selfish to tell Josh, and Leah reveals the jewellery that Diana loves so much were trophies from Seymour's victims. At the hospital Josh tells Leah that it's over. As he comforts Diana and tells her she did the right thing hiding the truth from him, he chooses not to tell her about the jewellery.
