Karen tries to apologise to Heston for the way Rob spoke to him, adding that Imogen is now not speaking to her father. Karen calls Rob to try and sort the mess out but he doesn't answer.
At home, Imogen and Rob continue to ignore each other. Later Karen works out that he's gone fishing and goes to find him. She tries to reason with him and tells him to sort it out before it's too late.
At home, Karen tries to get through to Imogen but she says that her dad can rot in hell for all she cares!
Meanwhile, as Thomas (42) returns to his late mother's home after his release from prison, his neighbour Jan (37) says hello, while Alan (44) and his father Edwin (73, NSE) watch him from a parked van across the street. Later Edwin walks into Thomas' back garden and spits in his face, inciting a panic attack.
Next door, Jan watches a news report about Thomas – who has been found innocent after 20 years in prison for the rape and murder of two women. New DNA evidence has proved that another man was responsible for the killings.
Inside his house, Thomas receives a phone call from Alan telling him that if he remains in Letherbridge, he's dead.
Alan follows Thomas to the Mill where he sees Zara who is sympathetic, recognising the similarities of his case to her father's, and how being in prison for a crime he didn't commit has broken Thomas. Meanwhile Alan confronts Karen about the Mill treating a rapist and a killer. Zara talks to Alan, who says they know that Thomas is guilty, and that the DNA evidence is wrong.
Back at home, Thomas finds a flyer which says he's a rapist and a murderer. Jan is supportive and dismissive of the flyer and Thomas asks her for a drink. She can't go, but says he should go for one and enjoy his freedom.
After going to the Icon for a few pints, Alan sees Thomas on his way home and attacks him.
Jan finds Thomas and takes him to the Mill where Zara treats him. Zara sees how lost he is and tells him to hang onto the person he was before he went to prison, and strive to be that person again. Jan takes Thomas home but is concerned by how dazed he looks and so calls Zara.
Zara forgoes her lunch to pop round to see him, and asks Jan to keep an eye on him until she gets there. Thomas sits, watching his news report on the TV and ignoring Jan at the door, who has come round with some soup. He looks at his bottles of medication.
As Zara arrives, she sees Alan's van parked outside; concerned she calls the police. Zara sees Thomas through the window and the pills on the floor so quickly enters through the back door.
Inside she discovers that Thomas hasn't taken enough pills to kill himself but she sees an upturned bowl of soup on the floor beside a woman. With horror she realises that Thomas has killed Jan.
Childlike, Thomas says that Zara told him to try and be the person that he used to be...and that he did kill the other woman with the man the police now believe did it.
Distraught, Zara slowly moves outside. As the police arrive, Zara breaks down, what has she done?
