Greg works a shift at the Police Station, tending to a drunken patient,
Julia visits Marcia who is still in hospital post her drunk and disorderly charge; Julia offers Marcia a home for a few more days without Mac’s knowledge.
Jimmi admits he is worried Suzy has a STI, (sexually transmitted infection), and asks Helen to see her.
Sarah tells Faith that she is not impressed by Jimmi’s taste in women or pandering to Suzy as he waits with Suzy in reception.
Suzy faces Helen and says she has a rash. Suzy is relieved when Helen diagnoses a harmless condition, Tinea. Helen reflects on her own attraction when Suzy leaves the office.
Julia accompanies Marcia as she is discharged from hospital. Marcia is horrified to be formally introduced to Greg, realising he examined her whilst drunk previously.
Sarah deliberately listens as Helen teases Jimmi, who is terrified about Suzy’s diagnosis. Helen is not easily swayed by Jimmi’s charms, despite Sarah’s thought to the contrary, but Helen enjoys the male attention. Sarah is jealous of Jimmi’s flirting, and to make matters worse, is then caught out listening to Jimmi and Helen's conversation by Julia. Sarah gossips to Faith in her treatment room about Jimmi and Helen. Sarah is once again shamed to be caught idle by Julia.
Julia takes out her frustrations, trying to find emergency housing for Marcia, to Helen. Julia apologises but is worried that Mac does not know yet that Marcia is still staying with them. Julia heads home to check on Marcia.
As Jimmi waits for a lunch date with Suzy, Sarah cannot help running down Suzy to Jimmi. Jimmi turns the conversation back to himself, and flirts to keep Sarah sweet. Suzy arrives to meet Jimmi, laden with expensive shopping, and parades this under Sarah’s nose, well and truly put out of joint.
Mac is startled to find Marcia at home. Julia arrives home and realises how annoyed Mac still is; Mac remembers his own alcohol abuse, brought back by Marcia’s stay. Julia backs down, but Mac offers to try and help Marcia, as he understands her predicament. Julia hugs Mac.
Mac talks bluntly to Marcia. Mac suggests that Marcia uses alcohol as a coping mechanism, which shocks Marcia. Mac tells her he wants to help, but Marcia feels tearful and leaves the room.
Mac searches Marcia’s room; he finds bottles of alcohol hidden. Mac is alone, and sorely tempted to have a drink himself.
Meanwhile, John Brownlow is arrested for being drunk and possible burglary, and examined by Greg at the Police Station. Greg sends John to hospital, suspecting Horner’s Syndrome, (a problem with the lungs). John has a Pancoast Tumour, which affects the nerves that control his eyes. This needs possible radiotherapy to help prolong life. John leads a lonely life; he no longer has contact with his Son, and has no one to accompany him to hospital. Greg works beyond the call of duty and gives time to John when he is at at his lowest. Greg helps John trace his Son through records and reunites Father and Son.
Jimmi’s current girlfriend, Suzy, shows how shallow his life is. Sarah cannot help feeling jealous of Jimmi’s attention to Suzy and Helen.
Marcia returns to Mac and Julia’s from hospital. Mac’s demons with alcohol return; Mac finds Marcia’s alcohol stash at home, and is tempted to take a drink.
