Julia is struggling to concentrate on her presentation for the PCT, so Heston suggests she ask Ruth to help. Reluctantly, Julia agrees to approach her. Heston warns Ruth of Julia's request, asking her to say yes, act surprised and then keep an eye on her for him. Ruth is overenthusiastic when Julia asks, arousing suspicion - but she manages to cover.

At home in Norfolk, Elaine tells Paul she's been offered a job nearby but also has an interview in Letherbridge. Paul dismisses the idea of moving, saying he can't leave his son just yet. Elaine is furious - can't he change anything for her?

Paul then pulls some papers out of his bag - it’s an estate agent's spec of an idyllic cottage. He tells her he wants to buy it for them. Elaine is thrilled and starts to dream. Just then, Heston calls offering her the job. Elaine politely declines the offer but Heston insists she think more about it and call him tomorrow. Elaine agrees but doesn't think she'll change her mind.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Ryan, also known as 'Grandad', makes lunch for his Nan Mae when his mate Spanner turns up at the door asking for some more gear. Twitchy, Ryan gives him it at the doorway, but insists he pay him inside or later on. Spanner thrusts the money into Ryan's hands and then police descend on him.

At the station, Ryan claims he's broken his arm and Jimmi advises he goes to St Phil's for an X-Ray. He's sure nothing is broken but Ryan is mouthing off about police brutality. Rob isn't pleased - he needs Ryan to give him the names of his suppliers for a raid tonight.

Jimmi offers to accompany Ryan to the hospital, but the police officer isn't paying enough attention and Ryan gives them the slip. Jimmi runs after Ryan, who's running particularly slowly. He reaches out for him and Ryan falls over, now in real pain. Rob catches up and Jimmi helplessly claims he didn't do anything.

Since Ryan has been asking after his Nan, Jimmi decides to go round and see her. Spanner shows him the way but when he gets there he finds Mae has collapsed. At the hospital, they confirm Ryan has two fractures and Rob insists Jimmi stay away from him unless he wants to be charged for brutality as well. However, Jimmi has news about Ryan's Nan - she's also in hospital due to not having her pills on time. Mae suffers from diabetes and heart disease. Ryan wants to see her, but Jimmi has a question - why does Ryan walk so slowly and why is he called 'Grandad'?

Ryan reluctantly admits he has osteogenesis imperfecta, a brittle bone disease. Rob then realises that Ryan's bones could've broken at the smallest of impact. Ryan explains his Nan looked after him as a little boy and now he's doing the same for her. The drug dealing gives him protection - no-one will hurt him because of the heavies he has behind him.

Jimmi and Rob appreciate this but Ryan needs to get better help for both of their sakes. Ryan visits his Nan who is visibly hurt that he's in trouble. As she drifts off to sleep, Rob says they'll go easier on him if he gives them some name. Looking at his Nan, Ryan agrees to help and drop charges on Jimmi.
