An explosive and ultimately tragic car crash opens the action; the drama then rewinds an hour earlier and the sixty minute special plays out in “real” time, culminating in the dramatic revelation of the identity of the car crash victim.
The first patient through The Mill Health Centre doors is a builder whose anger is ruining his life. Following an outburst with the surgery staff he lashes out and hits fellow waiting room patient Megan. Ex model, Megan storms out of the surgery and suffers an asthma attack in the car park. Luckily Dr Jimmi Clay is on hand to investigate her symptoms, discovering in the process that Megan is a cocaine addict.
Dr Joe Fenton has an appointment with a teacher recently diagnosed with cancer. He helps her make a decision about whether to accept treatment or lose her power of speech.
After a patient with amnesia collapses in the surgery with no identification. Practice Manager, Julia Maguire finds his wallet and attempts to track down the mystery man.
Elsewhere, Dr Nick West goes on a home visit to meet Jack Davis, an old gentleman in a care home who is convinced that he is being haunted. Meanwhile, back at the surgery a young woman set to travel the world with her boyfriend faces a dilemma when she discovers she is pregnant.
The pressure mounts as Dr George Woodson rushes off early to pick up her daughter, and with the arrival of an annoying health service manager, Selena McKinnon, the staff are really pushed to their limits.
As the 60 minute episode draws to a close, the story unravels and the Doctors’ seemingly disparate days become interlinked in the compelling life and death climax.
