Heston declares that Emma is more than qualified, and given the state of their staffing, they're in no place to quibble. Howard is forced to accept defeat and Emma sets up home at The Mill, taking residence in Elaine's office which perturbs Jas. However, the pair bond when Emma catches a cash-strapped Jas researching phone sex-line work and urges her to go for it.
Howard eventually manages to grab Emma for a quick word and expresses his concern, thinking it best if Emma left the surgery. Emma rebuffs his suggestion - it's only temporary so there's no problem, and Howard is forced to give in.
A charmed Heston plucks up the courage to ask Emma out for dinner, but is surprised when Emma reveals that she is married but doesn't wear her ring for health and safety reasons. Heston is left bemused as Emma skips off back home to her waiting husband.
Meanwhile, a retired journalist is shocked when her obituary is published in the local paper, but can Kevin unite a warring family before any real damage is done?
