At home, a frustrated Keith answers the door to Jimmi. He apologises to Keith for his earlier behaviour and Keith lets him in. Jimmi prescribes some more medication for Rob’s pain and tells him that counselling could help him deal with the change in his lifestyle. Rob is not interested; claiming talking won’t change anything. Jimmi suggests Rob goes back to work as a PE teacher – but Rob scoffs at this. Jimmi goes to leave and sees a photo of Penny on the side. Rob explains that they used to be together but someone else has caught her eye now. Jimmi leaves, trying to keep his emotions in check. Jimmi meets Penny and she opens up to him about Rob. She explains how his whole personality has changed and now she’s not sure what she wants. Jimmi encourages her to not give up on Rob. He suggests she help him to be part of a winning team again, maybe he could coach…
Keith returns home to Rob with his prescription. Rob has tried his leg braces – but fell flat on his face. Downhearted, Rob takes his prescription while Keith makes lunch. Rob locks himself in the living room and Keith phones the Mill worried. Jimmi arrives and breaks the door down. Rob is tearful but hasn’t taken any of the tablets. Jimmi assures Rob that it takes courage to carry on and that he still has a lot to give. Rob isn’t convinced but then Keith rushes in and tells him to come outside. There are some pupils of Rob’s in their running kit. Jimmi tells Rob they need him and not to let them down. Rob goes over to them and then leads them to a playing field. Penny is there, watching on. Jimmi advises her to go over to him. She does and Rob acknowledges it was her idea. She holds his hand and looks back to where Jimmi was. Penny tells Rob she is just glad to be there. Jimmi returns to the Mill, wistful but elated. He wants to share his triumph but everyone gone home. He goes to his office and turns on the tap….and slowly washes Penny’s number from his arm.
