Casualty star Georgia Taylor has revealed that she has been working non-stop to ensure that her current storyline is realistic.

Fans have recently seen the actress's alter ego Ruth Winters suffer a mental breakdown, but she is now taking the first steps towards recovery after being sectioned in a specialist psychiatric ward.

In an interview with We Love Telly, Taylor admitted that she put her personal life on hold in order to fully commit herself to the hard-hitting plot.

The actress explained: "I had two advisers who talked me through every line in the script, but I've just been working solidly. I said to my family and friends, 'I'm sorry. All I can do is work at the moment'."

Discussing where the plot goes from here, Taylor said: "[Ruth's] in the psychiatric unit for about three months but her recovery comes in fits and starts."

Taylor also revealed what it was like to work with Matthew Kelly, who appeared in the role of Ruth's psychiatrist Andrew Brookfield on Saturday night.

She commented: "He's such a nice man and we managed a giggle even though the stuff we were doing was heavy-going."
