Updated: Michael French joins 'Casualty'

By and Kris Green
Michael French is to join the cast of Casualty later this year, reprising his ex-Holby City character in the process.

The 45-year-old, known for his role as David Wicks in EastEnders, will return to the BBC One medical drama in September playing surgical consultant Nick Jordan. A report in The Sun today incorrectly claimed that his character would be returning to Holby City.

The character, who departed Holby City in 2006 when Connie Beauchamp (Amanda Mealing) transferred him to a different hospital, will take charge of the Holby General's emergency department in Holby City's sister show, Casualty.

A Casualty source told DS: "Nick's back and he's more focussed than ever. He's still striving for the top, while his arrogant and ruthless nature remains."

They added: "It'll be interesting to see the dynamic he creates when he turns up at Holby ED - Casualty's emergency department. A lot's happened since Nick's been away and it's not long before his past catches up with him again..."

French's other TV credits include Casualty, Born and Bred, Dalziel and Pascoe and Crime Traveller. Get the Inside Soap magazine on your iPhone or iPad
